My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and Pathways to Heal our Hearts and Bodies
From the publisher
"In this groundbreaking book, therapist Resmaa Menakem examines the damage caused by racism in America from the perspective of trauma and body-centered psychology...
My Grandmother’s Hands is a call to action for all of us to recognize that racism is not only about the head, but about the body, and introduces an alternative view of what we can do to grow beyond our entrenched racialized divide."

Help Select What We Read Next
This is a community driven book club. We will regularly solicit book recommendations from the social work community. A pool of volunteers will vote for their top choices from the books recommended to generate a short list. The short list will be presented back to the community for vote. Those interested in doing so, will vote for their top three choices and the book most selected is chosen as the next read.
We realize that this process leaves room for controversial books or authors to make it onto the short list or even to final selection. While books that spark debate or push us to think in new ways are welcome, please keep in mind we’re looking for thought-provoking, not harmful or hateful.
Ready to recommend some books? Do so HERE.
